Passover 2010

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

While the feast of Unleavened Bread is still ongoing, I did have time to take a picture of the dinner from Passover. The menu this year did not include crackers.

It did include creamy horseradish mashed potatoes; dill, rosemary, and olive oil oven roasted vegetables (turnip, carrots, squash, zuchini); dark chocolate (beet sugar) dipped strawberries, various honey candies including somethig called truffles,  matzah, vegetable broth soup with cheese and green onion, zesty lima beans, garlic and cheese stufft olives, mozorella and tomatoe, and a few other things I have long since forgotten.

Some friends and I read Bible stories, discussed feral cats, and discussed some aspects of higher reality until about 6AM in the morning. The next day I was quite worn out.

The following evening I spent the Passover largely alone and eventually decided to sleep under the stars. It was nice having the full moon out and I just layed out in the back yard with some blankets and listened to the birds and insects sing. All together – not a bad 48 hours.

No crackers this time 🙂

Vegetable for Brains

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Apparently, eating vegetables and fruits does not necessarily make one a vegetable:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/09/090909064910.htm

If this article is correct, then the Obama’s would agree that vegetables and fruits are a good thing:

Of course, if they decide to make a healthy smoothy, they may need a good blender:

Herbal Dream Therapy

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

In trying to replicate the dreaming activities that I’ve had before, I am having limited success at present.  I do know that other factors may contribute.

The following site seems to have a wealth of information on different things to try. As always, thinking required:

http://www.erowid.org/

At this point I have experimented with Kava Kava, Passion Flower, Valerian Root, St. John’s Wort, Dark Chocolate, and a variety of B vitamins.

The combination that seems to have worked so far was spaghetti (whole wheat), and spinach the night before and other than that going to bed on a relatively empty stomach, waking up for about an hour, and then going back to sleep feeling “lethargic”.

Over the last couple of days I have tried passion flower and higher doses of Kava tinctures, but without success. My dreams are sometimes vivid, and sometimes I can’t remember over the last few days. The level of “vividness” is not nearly as high as it ever has been.

I’m thinking of trying Holy Basil over the next couple nights.

Here is a larger list that I still have yet to try:

  • Mugwort,
  • Mullein,
  • Dittany of Crete,
  • Calea Zacatechichi,
  • Salvia Divinorum,
  • Scutellaria Indica,
  • Licorice Root,
  • Vervain,
  • Jasmine,
  • Honeysuckle,
  • Datura,
  • Bee Pollen,
  • Catnip,
  • Hops,
  • Scullcap,
  • Mimosa,
  • Lavender,
  • Damiana,
  • Withania Somnifera,
  • Chamomile,
  • Cardamom,
  • Gotu Kola,
  • Ginkgo Biloba,
  • Ibogaine,
  • Verbena,
  • Rose,
  • Cinnamon,
  • Marigold,
  • Nutmeg,
  • Peppermint,
  • Holly,
  • Yarrow, and
  • Anise.

My umm… soul (I think) did point me towards Hawthorn as a treatment for high blood pressure, which seems to have worked. I think it also pointed towards “Kava Kava” for me. I have yet to try Kava Kava in a higher dose by itself.

In other news,  over the last day I’ve seen an interesting pattern. 333 has been popping up like mad today.

Hidden Johnny Apple Seed

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

I read an article today and in the past which talks about “live” food being the best in terms of energy. This would mean sprouted beans, etc.

Well, how about sprouted apples (picture below)?  The apple I had for mid-morning snack had sprouted seeds inside. Mmmm… should I eat them? I decided to plant them instead.

img_0251.jpg

I have the seeds saved in a paper towel and plan to grow them as part of further development of my feminine side?!?! It is really about all that I can do right now since me wife has bailed.

I’ve put some more pictures of my garden below. This tomato plant is starting to get the black death from too much water. The other things are really taking off though.

Growing plants and gardening may be a way to help develop aspects of oneself that are missing or where one does not have an available catalyst (i.e., a wife).  This may even be an analogy for the “seed essence” of the soul that is within each of us.  Yes, all of this from one little apple.

The Lowly Banana

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Bananas are a super food apparently. My doctor once told me to avoid them due to the sugar content.

Master Cleansing Contemplation

Monday, April 13th, 2009

As part of my fast leading up to Passover I had gotten down to about 216-220lbs. Yay. Quite exciting. At my maximum weight almost three to four years ago I had weighed 250lbs. Holy Cow, fat man!

My doctor had told me I need to be about 180lbs, so I guess I have about another 40lbs to go. The trouble is, even after switching to vegetarian diet and walking and exercising, I still wasn’t losing all that much weight. It may have been all the oranges I was eating. When I was at around 235 lbs, I tried something called the “red light” therapy. I would basically hold a red lamp and point it at my solar plexus for about 30 minutes, while listening to marching music. I ate nothing but red or orange food for about 3 – 4 weeks. I dropped 10lbs fairly quickly, but once I started going back to normal food, my weight loss halted.

My most recent fast in preparation for Passover brought me down to 218-220lbs. I seem to be holding weight at 220lbs.

For my next trick, I am thinking of doing the “Master Cleanse” fast. This is basically lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper. They say that you can lose up to 2lbs a day on this fast and can go as long as 40 days because most of the vitamins and minerals are provided by the lemons and maple syrup. This may be my next step in my efforts to reset my metabolism and no longer be a bigger fellow.

I’ll have to wait until after the Feast of Unleavened Bread is complete to do this one though. I am actually getting excited about fasting. Weirdo.

Natural Healing

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Quoted from an email that is floating around on the Internet:

It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the
fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before
making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born.
These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow
learners…
*
God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
*
*A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating
lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots
greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.*
*A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is
red. All of the research shows **tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are
indeed pure heart and blood food.*
*Grapes** **hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape
looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also
profound heart and blood vitalizing food.*
*A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper
cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut
are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than
three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.*
*Kidney Beans* actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes,
they look exactly like the human kidneys.
*Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb** and many more look just like bones. These
foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these
foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the
body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish
the skeletal needs of the body.*
*Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears** target the health and function of the
womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s
research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances
hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And
how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado
from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical
constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has
only studied and named about 141 of them).*
*Figs* are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase
the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to
overcome male sterility.

*Sweet Potatoes** *look like the pancreas and actually balance the
glycemic index of diabetics.

*Olives** *assist the health and function of the ovaries

*Oranges, **Grapefruits*, and other *Citrus* fruits look just like the
mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts
and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

*Onions** *look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions
help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce
tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, *
Garlic*, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals
from the body.

*Psalm 46:10 – ‘Be Still and Know that I AM GOD’
*Please don’t break this even if you only send it to one person. Look at
the date when this was started.

Carl Jung – Kava Kava Lucid Dreaming

Friday, February 20th, 2009

In continuation of my previous post on Vitamins. This one will take a bit to warm up.

A few days ago, as I was coming to work – something sort of said to me as the odometer was approaching 140.00 – see where you are at when the odometer is at 140. I thought to myself – errr? What is this raucus?

Yup. Talking to myself again I guess… maybe. Perhaps it was a disincarnate spirit. Perhaps a “nature god”. Perhaps my higher self. Jesus? God? Earth Consciousness? My subconscious? I really don’t know at this point. I do know it was a thought though and it popped into my head out of nowhere so I went with it.

As I approached the magical 140 – well at first I thought that maybe this was related to the street sign I had just passed, but then I realized I was actually on a “bridge”.  Bridge. Interesting.

As I drove into work, I happened to pass right by bus #140. Interesting. The plot thickens.

I arrived at work and checked my email. The first message in there is something about “The Bridge – Step 9″. I zeroed in on this for two reasons: one – the girl who served me last night at Denny’s had her birthday on the 9th, and two – this bridge event which had happened earlier. So I read the email and went ahead and downloaded this ebook called “The Bridge”.  It is essentially a prayer / manifestion guide in the spirit of Mark 11:22, but with a new age flavor. That sounds great, but wait – it gets better.

This same morning I had a few dreams most of which are in my written dream journal offline; however, I thought I’d bring to the forefront – one of the dreams. In it, my wife and I were both riding back to our old house (I was driving) and came back the reverse direction from a long winding road in my hometown to our old house. She kept asking – do you normally come this way and similar questions. As you may know, we are currently separated and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to get our marriage back together somehow – so this dream may have had some marital messaging for me in addition to any cosmic type guidance.

As I opened my brand new book, “the Bridge”, somehow the computer had switched it to page 30, which was The Bridge Reminder #6 – Getting Home! It discussed loving our enemies and such. I felt jolted as I recalled my dream about getting home the reverse direction. Home. Home sweet home. The back way????? Errrr?

I thought it was neat how the whole thing went down. Now one could certainly argue that all of this is merely a function of my brain or ego attempting to survive and recognizing patterns and attaching to them. Fair enough. I have thought much the same myself. However, here is the kicker. Once this stuff starts happening, it seems to get louder and louder until you start to pay attention and quit ignoring it – at least that is how it went down for me.

This all ties back into the idea that what we call reality is in a weird sort of way – actually a dream  – not that I’ve ever woken up from the dream – this is all purely theory and speculation at this point. Shohn’s tips for getting marriage back together – find out secrets of the universe – then get marriage back together. Perhaps my strategy is a bit off.

With this framework laid out, I have been attempting to follow / get guidance from what many would term in the new age as the “higher self”. It seems that there are a variety of channels for communicating with whatever is up there or out there in the blue ether.

Here is another example. I had a spiritual question on vitamins – rather – which ones to use. I had researched various herbs for enhancing dream vividness. The goal being to get my mind to such a level that I can have a “near death experience” and talk to the being at the end of the tunnel of light without the normally mandatory blood and guts for such an experience. If you are a Bible reader, you may recall the experience that Paul had in the desert on the way to Damascus – the blinding light? Well, instead of taking LSD or Peyote like normal folks, I’m trying to get my mind to operate at maximal levels to arise from this dream we call reality. This means I need appropriate neurotransmitter chemical thingies or something like that.

One herb I had found was something called the kava kava root. It is said to help reduce anxiety and allow for better sleep. Mmmmmmm -  reduced anxiety… yummy.

I was researching this in the morning.  I specifically looked this one up on wikipedia. Later on that night, I opened my herb book for the first time in a long time. It turned to a page about “Kava Kava” root – directly.  This was not in the middle of the book. It was a 300 page book. Coincidence?  You tell me.

I decided it wasn’t and went to the vitamin store for some good ol’ Kava Kava root.

At this time, I have been taking it for several days in conjunction with super doses of B vitamins.

The first night I took it, it felt sort of weird as I was fading into sleep. However, through this combination – I have noticed a definite improvement in the vividness of my dreams. Many seem “real”.  Since then, almost every single night – my dreams have been quite vivid – leaving impressions to sort through for much of the rest of the day.  No tunnel of light at this point, but hey I am still learning how to eat spiritual baby food here.

Well with my new found dream pills, I have been having some rather interesting dreams about the wife. The day before I had a dream that she was “cleaning” out our house, but wasn’t ready to come home. Last night I had a dream that she was “preparing” to come home. I can’t wait for this dream to become reality.

Lucid Dreaming – Vitamins

Monday, February 9th, 2009

About a year ago, as I started down the path of attempting to clean my house spiritually speaking, part of it included exploring various scriptures that seem to go unnoticed by various folks in the Christian realm.

For example:

  • Ecclesiastes 12:6
Remember your Creator before the silver cord is snapped, the golden bowl is broken, the pitcher is smashed near the spring, and the water wheel is broken at the cistern.
  • 2 Cor 12:2-4 (KJV)
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
  • I John 2:27
As for you, the anointing which you received from God abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as God’s anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in God.
  • 3 Nephi 28:15 of the Book of Mormon
15 And whether they were in the body or out of the body, they could not tell; for it did seem unto them like a transfiguration of them, that they were changed from this body of flesh into an immortal state, that they could behold the things of God.

These are definitely a bit out there and probably have something to do with what is termed astral travel, lucid dreaming, etc. now a days.

I’ve had a few lucid dreams and seemingly out of body experience over the course of my life, but as usual never really knew what triggered it. Most of the time it seems to have been a function of just the right amount of being tired.

Mind you – Lucid Dreaming is just opening – newbie stuff. Stated another way, I caution you – astral travel / OBE has nothing to do with the inner kingdom that Yeshua was describing. At least that is what my sources tell me.

Back to Lucid Dreaming.

Another author had described certain vitamin supplements that can help.

Excerpted from:

http://www.jakobdk.com/reach-lucidity-using-drugs/

I am constantly looking for new ways to increase my ability to reach lucidity. Anyone who knows about lucid dreaming, know that it takes a lot of practice to get it right. After reading this thread at the forum on LD4All, — snip

Conclusion:
In the beginning I was a little anxious about the high dose of B-vitamin. However, I have seen no signs of side effects. I am sure it makes it easier for me reach lucidity, this being placebo or not. However, I am sure that such a high dose of one specific vitamin is unhealthy for my body, which is why a break is necessary. But I am definitely going to try this again, sometime in the future.

The author of the above article seems to have had some luck with B6. On my two most recent lucid dreams about 6 weeks ago, the factors were:

  • Heat – it was warm and cozy.
  • Got up a bit and walked around then laid back down around 7AM – the dreams occurred at 9AM ish.
  • Took a salt bath the night before around 1-2 AM
  • I’m on a vegetarian diet. I had been eating cheese enchiladas once in awhile. I had cut out all cheese enchiladas for fear that there might be chicken broth in the mix somehow.
  • Had placed an amethyst crystal near my bed.
  • Had started taking a few additional vitamins including something called DMEA.
  • Ate spinach with risotta cheese, sun dried tomatoes the night before.
  • Ate whole wheat spaghetti with heart healthy sauce the night before.
  • I was eating lots of cottage cheese at the time.
  • Was eating lots of spinach then anyway

Was there extra B6 in this diet? Not that I’m aware of – well maybe in the cottage cheese.

I am now in the habit of remembering my dreams mostly every night, though the depth and lucidity of the dream does seem to vary. Some of the things I have done to achieve this to compensate for the laziness factor when it comes to record the dreams. It is 3AM – you want to go back to sleep right? Well, at least I do. So I have used a pad right next to my bed or a tape recorder. While is great, I’m still trying to figure out how to become lucid.

For now, I am still experimenting. I suspect that the body may adjust to receiving new vitamin input and thus the effect may go down after some time. So I am thinking of adjusting my daily and nightly vitamin cocktail to have a “bye week”.  This may include additional “folic acid”.

From what I have read so far, one should try not to have a heavy meal as this requires too much energy during the night – thus removing possibilities for lucid dreams. However, that was not my experience. It was a fairly sizable meal the night before, yet I was hungry when I went to bed because it was spinach and pasta.

My personal research continues……..

Purple Tomatoes – anthocyanins

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Get don’t get all goofy, but apparently purple tomatoes with the health kick of a 1000 rhutabagas are in the lab being cooked up for someone’s consumption.

http://www.nhs.uk/news/2008/10October/Pages/Purpletomatoes.aspx

I wonder if these would be good for the ol’ third eye?

Now before you get too upset about this, realize that carrots used to be maroon or something back in the day. This was before Belgium decided that carrots needed to be orange as a show of national pride. I read that somewhere once.
